About Matthew Harley
Matthew is Associate Director, UK Advocacy at the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME), which is the voice of Europe's wholesale financial markets, providing expertise across a broad range of regulatory and capital markets issues. In his role, Matthew coordinates and engages with policymakers and stakeholders on issues impacting UK financial markets, contributing to AFME’s priority areas within the UK. Since joining AFME he has helped lead interactions with the UK Government and regulators.
Before joining AFME, Matthew worked at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a subject matter expert in cryptoassets and capital market reform.
Matthew has also worked in the UK Parliament within a research department, and served as a senior adviser to two Members of Parliament. In these roles, he advised on economic policy, trade and legislative affairs, providing analysis and briefing to support parliamentary scrutiny and policy development.
